Cool Tool Review – Color Schemer Gallery
By
Unless I have a specific logo or graphic to use as inspiration, one of the hardest part of designing a site for me is picking my color palette.
One of the best places I have found for color scheme inspiration is the Color Schemer Gallery. You can pick from hundreds of color schemes with names like Vintage Doll, MintandMauve, and Mardi Grass.
If you have an inspiration color and need to figure out which colors complement it, try using their Color Schemer Online tool. You enter a color, it shows you what works well with it. You can also lighten and darken the entire scheme.
It’s just another tool to add to your design kit!

I’m with you… I love this site. It’s one of my first stops when considering a new design.

You could try http://www.designerplaything.co.uk which also offers w3c contrast checks and allows control over typography at the same time so you can see how your chosen colours may look in an actual page.
