Essential Keystrokes – Instigator Style

By Char

Essential ToolsEssential Tools feature for this week is Benjamin Yoskovitz of Instigator Blog.

Ben is a technology entrepreneur with 10+ years experience starting and running businesses in the software and web development industries. Currently at the early stages of a new startup company, and actively blogging about his experience in entrepreneurship, small business, marketing and technology at Instigator Blog. You can also find him at b5 media’s Startup Spark and Business Blogs Now.

Ben uses the tried and true tools for peak efficiency. The following are the tools he uses and why.

  • GMail: It’s a great, simple-to-use but feature-rich email tool. Now that he can run non-Gmail.com domain names through it (like ben@myowncompany.com) it’s even more useful.
  • WordPress: Ben uses WordPress for all of his blogs. It’s a great publishing tool and you can develop a wide range of projects with it – from a simple blog, to a full-blown, deep website. Check out his post today as he shares some of his WordPress advice.
  • Skype: He uses numerous instant message applications (Gtalk, MSN, AIM, ICQ) but finds the best one is Skype. You can text chat and voice chat with it (for free.) It’s hard to beat free and voice chatting when you’re communicating with clients, prospects, vendors and friends around the world.

As always, I’d love to know what your toolbox contains! And if you’d like to be featured here, leave me a comment and let me know.

I love my gmail and skype too, but I use msn alot more. Few days ago, I found myself connecting with 2 of my freelancers at one time – how powerful and convenient.
