Grading Your Site – 31 Free Online Tools

By Char

How do you know if your web site is doing all it can for you? Sure it looks good, but does it play by the rules? Can everyone use it? Is it lightening fast?

Aviva Directory took the time to find 31 different online tools that you can use to grade or test your web site in the following areas:

  • Code Validation
  • Accessibility
  • Speed
  • Browser simulation
  • SEO

I know there are ways that I can improve my site based on these tools – now I just have to take the time to get it done. How about you? Do you know of any other site checking tools that did not make the list?

Hi, Ellen Weber recently posted a way to calculate your reading level. This helps us check our content in a little different way. I’ve noticed some people who are more interested in links are sometimes careless with content. So this tool is one way to check on that. :-)

Robyn – thanks for sharing that tool with us! I will have to check it out.

These are some great tools, Char – thanks for sharing your find with us :)

No problem Lisa – I don’t even remember how I found the list but figured there were lots of us that would find it helpful.

For one stop shopping, SEOChat Tools has 41 different tools on their site.

Skarld – thanks for adding another tool to our kit.

Hey great set of tools. Code validation is highly overated IMHO. Unless you are huge offender, it’s more like bragging rights.

Buxr – I have felt that way for a long time – because no one has ever been able to give me a real reason – other than if a site is really bad – why code validation is so important. I may need to open this up for debate.

Great Post! I found the tools very useful! Thank You Soo Much!

thanks for pointing us to this list. Already used a few of them.
