Having Fun with Blogging Mad-Libs and Link Love
By
Here’s some fun for a Holiday Weekend courtesy of Liz Strauss at Successful Blog.
- Copy the unfinished story below into your post box.
- Fill in the blanks to finish the story. For most of the blanks use a blogger’s name, a trait, a post title, a blog title — get creative. Finish each sentence in an unexpected way. You can find plenty of links to spark your imagination at the A-Z directory.
- Link the text you added back to the blog or blogger you’re referencing.
- Be creative. Change the words or storyline as you wish in order to fit in the links you like.
- When you’re done, leave a link with the title to your version of the story in the comment box at Successful Blog.
Liz will do something creative with the links you leave. She will collect the links to your titles at 2pm CST on Saturday, September 7, 2007, that way folks who are traveling can have a chance to play.
My version of the story is below the blank one.

shaking. “Could you spare _____ ?â€
And so it passed that _____ gave our brave and quirky hero _____ AND _____
and all was well.
You might think this is strange, but in _____ such things happen all of the time.

Adventures of a Work From Home Momma
eMoms at Home was working on some Success Creeations, when out of the blue the TyperTappers appeared. You might think this is strange, but in these Evolving Times such things are common. Our brave and quirky hero knew exactly what to do — she had to walk the Business BlogWire, but our brave and quirky hero had no MomGadget.
Seeking help for this dilemma, our hero headed down the road to Success from the Nest.
The road passed three creatures — each of them was more interesting than the next. The first was an Airey logo designer. The second was a Stay at Home Dad, Geek Style. The third was a sweet designer called Randa. Our brave and quirky hero ran the rest of the way, and when _she_ got there, she got another surprise!
“A Revolution!†our hero exclaimed.
“Crunchy Mustard,†Brian Gardner answered.
“I was working on some Success Creeations, when out of the blue the TyperTappers appeared. †our brave and quirky hero said, knees shaking. “Could you spare some Design Adaptations?â€
And so it passed that Brian Gardner gave our brave and quirky hero Design Adaptations AND SpeedEndurance and all was well.
You might think this is strange, but in these Evolving Times such things happen all of the time.

Great job, Char! It’s not easy to come up with all those links in a way that makes sense.

Glad you liked it. It was an excellent exercise in creative writing fueled by a great cup of coffee on a quiet Sunday morning.

Very creative, Char! What a fun exercise from Liz, even if I did turn out to be a creature by the roadside.

Hilarious! You know when you get a trackback how it only shows you the part of the entry where your site is linked? I read it and thought “what kinda craziness has Char posted today???” LOL!

Brian – thanks for the kind words. It was one of those tasks that I didn’t have a clue how to start but it came together so nicely. I can’t wait to see how your creativity gets added to this exercise.

Very creative! In fact the most entertaining form of speading link-love I have seen so far.

Hi Char, I loved this post – particularly the bit where “crunchy mustard” is the answer to “a revolution!”
