Very few commercials are good enough that I want to watch them in the first place, let alone write about them, but the new Sprint – Now Network commercial is so good I have to share it with you.
The ad shares an amazing cross section of data in a very easy to digest format – its visual, relevant and its presenting numbers about what people are using their Sprint cell phones for NOW. Like:
- The number of cell phone users – then how many just hung up
- The number of incoming emails – and the power of spam filters
- What people are searching for
- How video is being used on their phones
- The popularity of texting – even in business meetings
- People using their phones for Twitter – and the fact that 26% of the population has no idea what Twitter is
- That people are using their phones to research destinations (such as restaurants) and oh, by the way, we even lose those phones
- And the fact that now, the first thing people do when a flight lands is turn on that cell phone!
That is a TON of information – relevant information with a little humor built in – that is conveyed in less than 60 seconds! And as someone who uses my cell phone for just about every one of those purposes, I got a really good sense that if I ever needed to change providers, that Sprint would have everything that I need. Luckily Verizon has done a great job of offering the services I need at a price I am satisfied with, but if I ever considered changing, the first network I would think of would be Sprint.
What other ads/commercials have you seen that are so effective, especially in today’s highly fragmented ad market?
Social media is hot and its here to stay! One of the biggest trends in web design right now is adding icons or buttons for all the various social media sites you use to your web site to make it one step easier for friends, customers and potential customers to connect with YOU. So where do the designers find all these cool icons? They are all over the web and many are free, but you have to go looking for them.
Fellow designer Randa Clay and I got tired of looking high and low for the best social media icons and decided to create a single hub where you can find the best, free social media icons, buttons and graphics to use at your site. We would like to introduce you to our new website, mysocialbuttons.com, a one-stop resource for all the coolest social networking buttons you can use to let the world know where and how to connect with you or your company online.
All of the buttons on the site at the moment are free. Yep, free. You can help yourself. We just ask that you save the buttons you want to your computer first before you add them to your site or your clients’ sites.
And, if you really want to show of your social prowess, check out some of the t-shirts, mugs, mousepads and other goodies we have created to go with the social movement. They make great gifts, awesome conference schwag, and they are perfect for use as doorprizes or ice breakers at corporate training sessions.
Anyhow, the site is still in beta, but we just can’t keep it to ourselves any longer! Please check it out, let us know what you think, bookmark it, share a link with your friends on Facebook, give it a Tweet, or love it anyway you see fit!!
Seeing as I LOVE Common Craft’s very cool topics in plain English video series, and US Election Day is right around the corner, I thought I’d share Common Craft’s Electing a US President in Plain English video with you. As usual, the video is the best explanation I have heard for this complex process yet.
And while we are on the topic of the election and the web, check out Wendy’s post on the Presidential Election 2.0 and how social media has changed the political landscape forever.
