I couldn't agree with you more regarding building relationships and seeking out a forum that feeds your passion and attracts like-minded people. Not every one you visit or join is going to be the right fit for you. I have a forum for moms and moms-to-be @ http://www.babytalkers.com/forums so I know that sometimes people join and stay for life and other people just never really fit in there.

[...] There is always something to learn here with Char. I was reading about her post on the power of forums and I couldn’t agree more with her that joining forums (or discussion boards) is not about attaching your signature and generating more traffic to your sites. The attitude towards forums should be to “connect with individuals with like interests or goals”. Joining a forum is a wonderful way to build relationships and learn from one another. It is to share your experience and help others too. Quoting what Char has pointed out, you should take time to find a forum of your passion and interest, and it may take some time before you find the right one. [...]
